Co-op Highlights:

  • After completing the courses, you will apply your skills in a co-op (cooperative placement work experience) that provides hands-on experience.

  • Students are required to achieve a minimum grade average of 70% in each of the courses in their program and must have a minimum attendance of 80%. We need your skills to be strong!

  • The co-op is an integral part of the programs that require cooperative work experience.

  • It allows the student to develop and practice the skills needed to have success in their future careers.

Stepwest - Co-op work experience Coordinator for the diploma programs at INVO Career College

Stepwest will help to:

  •  Locate co-op hosts and arrange your placement making sure the host is ready for you.

  • Monitor your work experience, the number of hours worked and any issues related to your co-op.

  • Make sure you will continue to learn and practice your skills during your co-op.

  • Assess the student’s performance throughout the work experience placement, in coordination with the host and the student.

WORK EXPERIENCE WHILE YOU STUDY

  • Study permit holders in Canada may gain work experience by working off campus while completing their studies

  • Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES - SKILLS, SKILLS, SKILLS
Our programs will give you all the skills needed to be employed as an associate, front-line employee, supervisor or manager:

  • You will get jobs in retail or hospitality industries (hotels, resorts, motels, other lodging businesses)

  • You will get jobs in the food, beverage and service industries (restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, cafés, stores)

  • You will get jobs in tourist attractions, convention centres and tour operations

 

PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE
After completing the required courses, you will apply your skills in a co-op / cooperative placement work experience that provides hands-on experience

 

POSITIONS IN HOSPITALITY, FOOD & BEVERAGE AND TOURISM PROGRAMS WILL INCLUDE

  • Customer and information service representatives

  • Retail positions in stores and department stores

  • Hospitality/Tourism service providers

  • Restaurants/Coffee shops/Banquets’ Servers, Assistant servers

  • Rooms division: Front Desk/Reservation agents, switchboard operators, uniform services and concierge

  • Sales & marketing: sales/marketing/catering coordinators

  • Housekeeping department: Room attendants and Housekeeping supervisors

 

POSITIONS IN BUSINESS COMMUNICATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAMS WILL INCLUDE

Retail: This includes working in places such as: Grocery stores / supermarkets, retail stores (e.g. clothing, electronics, gift shops, etc.)
Potential placement options: Cashier, grocery / bakery / deli clerk, stock / sales associate, customer service representative

Recreation & Entertainment Services: This includes working in places such as: Tourist attractions (seasonal), gyms / health clubs, spas, recreation centres, transportation companies, vehicle rental agents
Potential placement options: Gate / ticket attendant, cashier, receptionist, customer service agent

Food & Beverage: This includes working in places such as: Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, catering companies
Potential placement options: Front of house only – host, busser / server assistant, server, food counter attendant,
cashier, barista, deli clerk

NOTE:

Individual placement options are dependent on several factors, including but not limited to: level of English, previous job experience, length of placement, and seasonal availability.
Students will discuss their preferences and qualifications with Stepwest to determine which options best suit their case.
